The Anambra State Government has sealed the Arrow of God Children’s Home in Nwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area, rescuing eight vulnerable children following reports of poor standards and unhygienic conditions
The enforcement operation was led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, who reiterated the administration's zero-tolerance policy for child exploitation and substandard care facilities. Government officials moved into the facility over the weekend, citing severe violations of institutional standards and a failure to provide a safe, sanitary environment for the wards.
The rescued children have been taken into protective state custody, where they are currently undergoing comprehensive medical evaluations and receiving psychological support.
Meanwhile, security agencies have commenced a full investigation into the management of the orphanage. Mrs. Onyekesi warned that the state will continue to monitor, audit, and crack down on any care home operating outside legal frameworks and humanitarian baselines to ensure the safety of Anambra's most vulnerable citizens.
